How to delete scanned file from Linux systems through Bigfix

Hi All,

Does compressed package with scan results automatically deleted when it is already uploaded? if not, Is there a existing fixlet to clear out the compressed package? Thanks

BFI/ILMT scan files are stored under the BESClient data folder, which is /var/opt/BESClient on NIX systems. Specifically the LMT sub-directory.

I believe that BFI/ILMT scan files are overwritten each time the scan is executed/scheduled. So unless you’re removing the BFI/ILMT functionality, there’s no need to delete the scan files as they’ll be overwritten during the next scan.

Is there a specific reason you’re looking to delete the scan results?

These files size that come from scan results are usually less than 1MB. Whole CIT folder is usually less than 10MB per endpoint. If there is a problem on the endpoint support might be interested in these files.

Thanks for the info. We are suspending the scan on our Linux Systems because we are getting space issue and will remain suspended until we have added additional space. Can you share the script to delete the exact file please. Thanks

Not sure you understood … the scan file is about 1MB in size, and gets overwritten each scan. Too small for anyone to have bothered writing a script to delete it.

This is not the space you’re looking for…

Hi Jason,

We have stop the scanning they want to clear the data related to the scanning. Thanks

Run the uninstall scanner fixlet in the BFI/ILMT site against the desired endpoints. Once the above fixlet has completed, if desired you can delete the BFI/ILMT folder under /var/opt/BESClient on the same endpoints.
