How do we check how many bes client licenses we have?

Shawn,

The easiset way is to look in your masthead. You can export a copy using BES Admin, or look at the file actionsite.afxm in C:\Program Files\BigFix Enterprise\BESClient__BESData\actionsite

You should be able to open it in any text editor and view the line ‘LicenseAllocation:’

This is a digitally signed file so it won’t work if you try to change it

Perfect. I found how many licenses we currently have. It appears that I have some machines in “seat count grace mode”. I’m in the process of getting more licenses, but what is the threshold where these will stop working?

10% above your license count. So if you have 1000 licenses then it will stop working at 1100.

I have 3700 license in my masthead which doesn’t expire till next Sept. I have machines that keep reporting to Bigfix as Restricted by Seat count: 21 right now and Clients in Grace mode: 8 right now. I have tried to purge these machines but they return still in restricted mode. Any thoughts?

Hi astanley,

How many agents are reporting in your deployment?

You can look at one of these clients and check their value “LicenseID” of key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BigFix\EnterpriseClient\GlobalOptions” of registry. See if it is over 3700.

Hi Ben,

I am facing the same problem. I have license for above 9300 clients and the number of computer in which i have deployed client is 9255 but still there is a fixlet bes client in seat count grace mode for 28 computers. I made an analyses to check the license ID and the computers that are applicable in the fixlet bes client in seat count grace mode have license ID less than 9300. I checked the actionsite and the license count is more than 9300.

I would like to give you some history(in case if it is helpful)

We first had only about 8600 licenses and then we later on upgraded the number to 9300.
