How many fixlets are too much in a baseline?

(imported topic written by ktm_200091)

Hi All,

We’ve had big fix for almost 2 years and have been doing a baseline per month, I’m thinking of condensing all 2008 patches into one super baseline and doing the same for 2009. I’m pretty sure that there will be over 100 patches per super baseline, will that cause issues with big fix?

Also what is best practice in this area?

After having used Bigfix for a while and posted more than a few times on here, I’m surprised you haven’t let the search function assist you.

I found this, which seemed to give a fairly well rounded view:

Fwiw, I’ve set up baselines by quarter (with separate x64 bit baselines) and that seems to be a fairly reasonable balance between numbers of baselines and numbers of fixlets within each (30-60ish per baseline).

If we could use efficient mime (soon, very soon), we would be able to merge a few of those, but I’d rather take the efficiency ‘win’ and just let the current baselines be checked a bit quicker, rather than just group them into even larger baselines just because I can get away with it.
