High latency between server and devices

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Hello everyone,

I am setting up and testing MDM with a couple of devices, one android and one iOS.

I have setup the relay on the DMZ and installed the iOS extender etc. so I can successfully connect to devices over the internet and I can see them in my management console.

My issue is the latency between me issuing a task and anything happening on the device.

Similarly if I turn the device off over night, then back on again, it doesn’t re-appear in my console for well over a few hours.

I know there are settings when setting up the extender, though for testing purposes I had set the refresh time for 5 mins (my thinking being my server would send a refresh to all the devices every 5 mins), but when I issue a task… say wipe the device, it literally takes hours to work.

I will attach a screen shot of how I have configured my iOS extender, though the issue persists with android too.

There must be something really silly that I am missing here but my mind is starting to go numb so I would really appreciate some guidance if possible.

Many thanks in advance!

I’m looking into the task ‘Enable Command Polling’ for the Android devices.

If this works as expected hopefully it will resolve my issue.

You should also set up the Android Device Notifier (a.k.a GCM Notifier).

See more details here:

Hi

If you use the android command polling fixlet, it is incorrect, the number is seconds not minutes. I have raised a PMR to get the bug fixed in the next release.
