Getting error "&" character"

why, this Character not work? "&"
i have this beginning of relevance and i get an error

( item 0 of it as string & “$x$” & item 1 of it as string)…

this one getting me an error — & “$x$” &

why?
and how can i separate between the results?

Is this a copy/paste from somewhere? Is it “smart quotes”? Try removing and retyping the dounlequotes.

Are you copying from the Excel Connector? I think that is specifically formatting for the Excel report it generates. You can just get rid of the & “$x$” stuff.
