Gathering Issues

Having a bit of trouble today with our BES Server.

The gather status report is giving numerous entries with the same error:

The BESGather service is having issues as also indicated on BESDiagnostics:

Test Failed: Verifying that the BESGather service can reach the Internet (This might not pass immediately after a fresh install).

Reason: BESGather reports it is not connected to the internet

The strange thing is the server is not currently having Internet issues. I am able to download patches via Bigfix, perform DNS lookups, and browse the Internet from this server successfully. It is just the BESGather service giving me ‘issues’.

Any clues as to what might be happening?

The gather service just turned “green” and everything seems to be working better. There are still two errors in the gather report, but earlier there were a number of them. This appears to be resolved.

Wow you are right… it is now suddenly working without issue, and it passes all tests.

I take it this was a network issue with Bigfix sync servers, and not related to anything on our end. Good to know.

Yep… There was a temporary dns issue that affected some people… sorry about that…

i have an issue that i am getting teh error in diagnostics that

Although internet is available and i have microsoft IE 7 installed on that server .Kindly help and let me know why BESGather service not getting this internet .Is there any othert settings specific to bigfix?

Do you have a proxy? That is the most common reason the server can’t get to the Internet…
