Forefront threat can be a problem for BES Gather Service?

Hi,

I think I have a problem with Microsoft Forefront Threat which is used as internet proxy server for TEM.

When I use a software distribution wizard and provide a file by URL it cannot by downloaded by TEM - I receive

Problem occured when downloading file:http://download.tuxfamily.

org/notepadplus/5.9/npp.5.9.Installer.exe

Error: HTTP error accessing url

http://download.tuxfamily.org/notepadplus/5.9/npp.5.9.Installer.exe:

The operation timed out (error 12002).

I also tried to download PDF and 7z file with the same result.

When I try to get it via browser Forefront Threat first caches it and checks for malware and then I need to click Download again to get it to my computer. Maybe BES Gather Service cannot handle this?

But I still can download content sites and I was able to update TEM with a fixlets… So I am confused now. have you got any hints?

I have dealt with the Microsoft Threat Management Gateway (TMG, the newest version of ISA) before… http://danielheth.wordpress.com/tag/tmg/.

My experience is limited though and I don’t plan to deploy it again for another few months within my test environment.

I’d recommend setting up a user account wich your gather servce runs under and on your TMG server, allow for unlimited access to that one user. I’d also recommend using a password randomizer so you can have a very very long password for this one user.
