I was wondering if there is a way to see all superseded patches and what the new superseded KB or MS number is.
I read this on an IBM support site but not sure what task 13 is and unable to find it in the console.
How do I handle missing patches?
IBM BigFix provides all patches except those patches that are unbundled. Missing patches might be superseded. For recently superseded content, run Task 13 to allow supersedence evaluation. For information about older content, contact IBM Software Support.
Hoping someone has an easy way of accomplishing this or they know what Task 13 is?
This documentation refers specifically to Patching on Solaris, but based on your first post, I don’t believe that is what you’re looking for, correct?
You can easily find superseded fixlets in Patches for Windows by simply filtering/searching on the name containing the term ‘superseded’. That said, not all superseded Fixlets will appear, as they are removed after being superseded for 1 year ( http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21506027 ).
We include notes about what KB supersedes a given patch/Fixlet within the Fixlet’s description.
You’ll have to excuse me. I did not have the Patches for Solaris Maintenance site enabled in my console. I enabled and gathered this site and do see the following task:
ID: 13
Name: Enable Superseded Solaris Patch Evaluation
Note there is an associated task to disable evaluation of superseded Solaris patches.
Disabling the evaluation of these superseded patches should help to reduce some unnecessary overhead on the client during the client’s evaluation cycle if you are not interested in seeing if any of the superseded Solaris patch fixlets are relevant on your Solaris endpoints.
