FillDB logging

(imported topic written by John_Masters91)

A while back I had some reg keys that turned on logging of the FillDB service. Somewhere along the lines I have lost them and I can’t seem to find them on the support site anywhere.

They wrote out to a logfile the speed at which the service was able to write to the SQL DB.

Anyone have these to hand?

The key your referring to is to turn on the performance logging for the FillDB Service.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BigFix\Enterprise Server\FillDB

“PerformanceDataPath”=“C:\Program Files\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\FillDBData\filldbperf.log”

Remember to turn this off when you are done! The log file can fill quickly and use up a lot of disk space.

Thanks Jesse… I remembered about turning it off also as the files get huge! I seem to recall there being another key too for some similar logging?

John,

Not sure which log you’re talking about. What type of info did it contain, and which component did it pertain to?

Attached are three tasks for Enabling, Disabling and Rotating the logs generated by FillDBPerf.

I’m working on a way to process those logs and store a stats file that can be returned via properties or an analysis.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks for these (and the WebReports logging) tasks. Are they going to be promoted to the BES Support site at some stage?

Mark.

I’m not sure, but i can inquire.
