File type relevance?

(imported topic written by JamesN91)

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Visio Viewer\TEST.VDX Microsoft Office Visio Drawing

I am going through a text file and adding a few different things. One thing I want to add is the File Type.

Per documentation

"file type of

Named

Creates a key object provided the registry indicates support for the named file type."

This relevance does not seem to work. My goal is to add to the above “Microsoft office visio drawing”

Can you give us more info on what you are trying to do… are you trying to find what is the default viewer for “vdx” files?

Sorry for the confusion. Was in a rush when I wrote the first message.

Step into windows for a moment.

Open explorer and view a directory full of files.

Switch the view to Details

Note the column of “Type”.

I need relevance to simply display the file “type” of a targeted file.

for example…

File Name

c:\temp\QWERTY.txt

File Type

Test Document

Thank you.

Here is how you would do it for a single extension:

q: (default values of keys (default values of(file types (".doc") of registry) as string) of key “HKCR” of registry)
A: Microsoft Office Word 97 - 2003 Document

Here is how you would do it for all files in a folder:

q: (default values of keys (default values of(file types (("." & it) of following texts of lasts “.” of names of files of folder “C:\temp”) of registry) as string) of key “HKCR” of registry)
A: Text Document
A: Microsoft Office Word 97 - 2003 Document
A: MP3 Format Sound
