Event ID 4: No Action site

(imported topic written by jdonlin)

All,

Below is an error I am seeing more frequently when I investigate why the BESClient service was stopped on computers. I’ve been thru the KB’s and these forums with no answer to my questions.

Could this be an error be the result of a user action? (deleting a file, making a file read-only). Is there a specific fix for this?

"Event Type: Error

Event Source: BESClient

Event Category: None

Event ID: 4

Date: 10/1/2007

Time: 3:42:53 PM

User: SYSTEM

Computer:

Description:

The description for Event ID ( 4 ) in Source ( BESClient ) could not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): No action site.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

So far, what I’ve been doing is uninstalling and re-installing, with limited succcess.

Thanks!

Jim,

You should contact Enterprise Support for help troubleshooting this. We’ll likely want to take a look at the BES Client Diagnostics and see if a BES Client crash dump was created. We can then analyze these and determine what the problem might be. If you are installing using the MSI, you might try the full BES Client setup.exe installer and see if that has better results. Its possible the problem is related to the MSI install (if you are upgrading, it could be a problem with the original msi install as well). It looks like the BES Client can’t find the actionsite.afxm file which it should be able to find here:

C:\Program Files\BigFix Enterprise\BES Client\ActionSite.afxm
