Error installing new console

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

I previously installed all the components for version 8.1 on a test server and everything is working correctly. Now I am trying to install the console on another computer, and I am having problems with the connection.

I have tried to use this article to create an odbc connection:

http://support.bigfix.com/cgi-bin/kbdirect.pl?id=118

However, I keep receiving the error “The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection” when I try to start the console on my workstation.

On the server there are only two user accounts, the administrator and my own (Jeff), and I use my login when I start the console on the server. I have tried using both of these with NT authentication from my workstation, with the same result.

Is there something I have missed in trying to setup the console? Thanks.

That error means that you are using “NT Authentication”. You might try using “SQL Server Authentication” (change your ODBC settings on the console computer to do this: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/wikis/home?lang=en#/wiki/Tivoli%20Endpoint%20Manager/page/Managing%20BigFix%20ODBC%20Settngs).

Thanks for the link, I was able to get the console working on my workstation. Part of the problem I had was I was not running the console with administrator rights on my workstation, once I did that it worked with the odbc configuration I had tried to use earlier.
