[+] Download error: “Error processing completed download: Requested SHA1 ******************************** does not match actual SHA1 *****************************”

Download requested on server:

URL: http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.12/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%203.6.12.exe

SHA1: ************************************

Size: 1,509 bytes

Next retry: 10 min retry now.

Requested and actual SHA does not match . I tried retry now option for many times but the same error occurs everytime .

does any one know what this error is , and whats the remediation ?

This means that the security hash of the file does not match what is expected by the Fixlet.

I see that from the subscription “Updates for Windows Applications”, we have a Fixlet ID# 6081011 with title “Mozilla Firefox 3.6.12 Available”.

It has the correct SHA1 for the setup.exe and I am able to download it.

The size of the setup.exe is 8174320 (7.79 MB), however, your error shows a size of 1509 bytes, which does not make sense.

Where is this Fixlet from?

rahul,

You have provided us with the symptom of the error encountered, which is helpful.

Would you mind listing down the steps you took to get to this error?

That might be the easier way for us to figure out what actions were taken. Also please let us know the version of BigFix in use.

How to Verify Your BigFix Server is Communicating back to BigFix and Downloading/Updating the Latest Fixlets and Tasks

Start > All Programs > BigFix Enterprise > BES Diagnostics Tool >

Choose the Services Tab > Click on View Server Diagnostics > Will open IE to BigFix Server Diagnostics site

Under Site Gathering Information > Click on Gather Status Page > Should hopefully fine nothing under Failed:

Under Ready: > You should see Current Dates under a few of these items shown - this displays the latest versions

I searched the Forum Site and Support Site for this earlier today so wanted to post the answer since I had to end up opening a ticket to find the answer to this - I hope this helps someone else who might be interested

If posted in the wrong forum - possibly a moderator could re-locate to the correct area - Thanks

Hi Lee ,

Big Fix version 8.0

I followed the following steps :-

  1. Installed client on a windows system , it for visible in my Bigfix console

  2. Then from the domain panel (on left side of BES console) I selected patch management.

  3. Then Application vendors–>mozilla Corporation–>security updates. I recommendation as “Mozilla firefox 3.6.12 available” and it was applicable to the computer that was visible in step 1.

  4. From take action tab I selected “upgrade to Firefox 3.6.12 regardless of whether or not Firefox is currently running.” A new window appeared for “take action” then selected the computer in that then clicked “ok”.

  5. It ask for password , after entering password it displayed action window in that the summary tab shows the error .

I tried a number of times a observed that everytime the SHA1 is different for comparision.

Download error: "Error processing completed download: Requested SHA1 ********************

does not match actual SHA1 “58059841b654091a406a63f550d22e7aa6ba4ef3”

Download requested on server:

URL: http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.12/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%203.6.12.exe

SHA1: *******************************

Size: 1,507 bytes

Next retry: 10 minutes retry now

next time the error showes SHA1 as “600ee0bbc191eb00ab2c5bb4bc3c61314f93430f” instead of “58059841b654091a406a63f550d22e7aa6ba4ef3”

Please let me know if you require any other information.
