Email Overview w/Filter?

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

Any way to have a scheduled activity that can email the general overview report with a filter?

We have the ability to filter the overview and then email it, and we have the ability to create scheduled activities based on the Overview page, but unfortunately there is not an easy way to apply a filter to the overview and then create a scheduled activities.

I believe there is a way to get around this… Try this:

  1. Create a filter for the Overview page.

  2. Create a new Web Reports user as a “Restricted User” based on the filter you want.

  3. Login as that user and then set up the schedule activity emailing the Overview page.

I think this should accomplish what you want. Let me know if it works.

Thx. That should work.

One other quick question: Why when a filter is applied to the overview page do the Total Issues and Total Number of computers graphs drop out?

While the reporting capabilities of Bigfix are comprehensive, it takes a degree in rocket science to figure it out. I hope you guys are working on a better interface.

Hey Jspanitz,

The Total Issues and Total Number statistics are archived statistics and we don’t maintain the history necessary to go re-calculate those statistics from an arbitrary filter (it would make the databases a lot bigger if we did).

The educational requirements for BES Web Reports are only a bachelors degree in astro-physics from an accredited university, but you will not be allowed to use the filtering mechanism without a masters/Ph.d.

=)

But seriously… we are working on some improvements to web reports that we hope will directly solve your issue. Do you mind elaborating on what could be better? Here is a good place to do it: http://forum.bigfix.com/viewtopic.php?id=80
