DSS SAM on a non-default SQL Port

(imported topic written by jawed91)

Hello:

I am trying to configure DSS SAM (build 23556) datasource with a non-default SQL Port and I get an error saying “The Field is no a valid SQL server host specification”. I have followed KB 528 and entered the Datasource name as <SQL_Server_name> , <SQL_Port>.

I dont know if anyone else have sucessfully configured SAM on a non-default port, if yes how?

your help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Jawed

Hey jawed,

From our developer:

“The DSS flex UI performs validation on what the user inputs to the datasource (BES connection specification) creation form. The validation is overly strict and doesn’t allow for non-default SQL Server ports. The DSS backend doesn’t have this problem, so it’s possible to work around the issue by issuing some commands in an interactive commandline.”

Please contact support and they will assist…
