Getting an error when I configure the data source for a new DSS SAM installation.
“Can not read the directory \ala-bigfix01\c$\Program Files\BigFix Enterprise\BES Server\UploadManagerData\BufferDir\sha1. Please check that it exists and that the user CORP\svc-user has read permission.”
I am pretty sure it is something simple. I checked permissions and it looks OK. The SVC-user is owner and can read the directory.
What I missing ? Does the configuration need to take place on a specific machine ?

In this case, the user CORP\svc-user on the SAM server must have permission to read default administrative share of that directory on the computer ala-bigfix01.
You can test this access by logging in to the SAM server as CORP\svc-user and attempting to access that network share. If you are asked for a password, then the user does not have permission to that directory.
It’s possible that account does not have permission to access shares like c$ and you would need to explicitly share that directory to give access to accounts which are not a local admin on ala-bigfix01.
