Hi, I’m not prepared to give you step by step instructions but I’ll briefly outline how we achieved a nice deployment using BigFix to push out Office 2007. The extra information you will require can probably all be found on the Microsoft Websites, BigFix websites and these forums.

First we used the MS Office deployment tools to create the .MST transform file which contains the licence key, customisations etc.

We put that file in the udpates folder within the “Office12” folder. Then we manually extracted all the patches for Office 2007 and put all the .MSP patch files in there too.

Then we created a self extracting exe file to copy the files onto the local machine into a folder.

Then we created the BigFix task to deploy and run the .exe file and deployed the task to a BigFix Group with no end date. (the user has options to postpone the update and is recommended to leave their PC switched on overnight, the task auto-executes after 8 hours)

Now we simply add a new PC name to the group and it gets the software a short time later. It’s maybe not the most ideal method of deployment (in fact I’m sure some people will disagree with this method) but it suits our needs perfectly. The client software is installed and patched up to the package date, then the Baselines kick in to add the extra patches.
