Deploying patches and the Action Status is showing failed

I am running some tests on patching overnight and set the box to reboot. Looked at the Event viewer on the box and everything seems OK. However, the action on the bes server has a status of Failed…where can I find where the failure was?

Is there any way to view a detailed log of why the fixlet fails? I’ve read through that KB article, but it isn’t much help. It basically contains the basic troubleshooting steps that any entry-level IT worker would perform anyway (try rebooting the machine and pushing the patch again).

I can’t find anything in local machines’ event logs. I’m wondering if our central Bigfix server would store some logs somewhere?

Hey taltrade,

If there were standard patch logs available from Microsoft or nice error messages or anything else that might help, we would be happy to retrieve them… but unfortunately, there are many ways that patches fail and they aren’t standard about how they fail…
