Demo session: BigFix Inventory and License Metric Tool (11 Jan 2016)

The Development Team would like to invite you to a post-iteration demonstration session.

TIME
Monday, 11 January, 4:00 PM (UTC+2)
Write to talk2sam@us.ibm.com for access details.

AGENDA
The session will consist of two parts:
Part 1 (about 20 min) is dedicated for Software Asset Managers who are interested in report filtering, triggering and notifications in License Metric Tool and BigFix Inventory.
Part 2 (about 30 min) is dedicated for Infrastructure Managers who are responsible for security in their company or collaborate with the Security department and are interested in using BigFix Inventory to detect malicious software.

DETAILS OF PART 1
One of the goals of BigFix Inventory is to make the work of Software Asset Managers and IT Operators less time consuming. To support this goal, we are working on introducing a mechanism of triggering notifications. In a broad set of possible conditions worth to be used as triggers for notifications there is one particularly useful: defining the time range of reports in relation to the current date. The new filtering option allows for defining conditions such as: “show me all endpoints which have the ‘last seen’ attribute older than 1 week, relative to current day”.

During Part #1 of the demo we will show reports generated based on the time range filter mentioned above and we will discuss it in the context of triggering notifications.

DETAILS OF PART 2
Software asset management software evolves into new areas which allows for deriving additional benefits from monitoring the infrastructure. If you are an Infrastructure Manager responsible for security or you collaborate with the Security department in your company you might be interested in the Cyber Security feature that will be added to the next release of BigFix Inventory. By leveraging technology used to detect software that is installed on the endpoints it is possible to raise security alerts based on the detection of changes in the file system. The version of BigFix Inventory that we are going to show provides data that can be used for that purpose. Our next step is to use this data with White List and Black List mechanisms to provide the information which can be used to detect security exposures.

During Part #2 of the demo we will show how to use BigFix Inventory REST API to get information useful for the assessment of security exposure.

ADDITIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT
We would also like to inform you that starting from version 9.2.2 BigFix Inventory is equipped with a complete set of catalog management functionalities. Apart from creating file and package signatures, you can use BigFix Inventory to create extended signatures that previously required installation of Software Knowledge Base Toolkit (SwKBT).
If you already created custom catalog content for BigFix Inventory in SwKBT, we prepared a migration tool that will allow you for smoothly moving the custom content from SwKBT to BigFix Inventory. If you are interested in the migration tool, it will be available through our Beta program before the next release of BigFix Inventory (tentatively end of 1Q 2016).

PREVIOUS SESSIONS RECORDINGS
Recordings from previous sessions are available on the Beta community: https://ibm.biz/demo_sessions.

Hi,

Can you please provide the registration link for this webinar.

Also I would like to ask that are you going to demonstrate how to create extended signatures with in BigFix inventory?

Thanks
