Creating automatic groups by IP address

(imported topic written by arpotu91)

Hello All,

Could anyone tell me why, if each host in “bes computers” has at least 1 network interface with “10” in the IP address, these two queries would give different results? I issue these relevance statements through “Presentation Debugger”. I would like to create automatic groups by IP address, and this doesn’t seem to be working:

This one gives over 200 results:

(ip addresses of it, name of it ) of bes computers

And this one gives only 15 results:

(ip addresses of it, name of it ) of bes computers whose (exists ip address of it and ip address of it as string contains “10”)

…is there a better, easier way to create automatic groups by IP address?

Thanks,

Arpotu.

Yes, use the location property wizard to map ip ranges to values. This will give you a retrieved property that can be used for filtering on the computers tab. If you still want to generate groups from there, use the automatic group creation UI to select which values for your retrieved property go into the group.

You can search the forum for more info on the location property wizard.
