Our accounting department uses a separate software package for fixed assets that we would like to pull information from. Basically, we want to search that database for a match to a computer’s serial number, then retrieve the associated asset number so we can display it as a custom property in Bigfix. Is this possible and how can it be done?
Is this just for reporting purposes, or will this information be used with either Fixlets or actions/deployments? Would these asset numbers be considered sensitive information? Depending on the requirements, there are a few different methods you might leverage to achieve this.
Just for reporting. Everything we will be doing that requires any action will be based on metrics native to the computer and not asset based. Primarily we want to display this as a custom property but also do some reports as well.
