Console on Windows Vista

(imported topic written by Ashwin.D91)

Hey,

I have a test scenario and I’m facing an issue.

I have a base system running Windows Vista 64 bit on which I have 3 VMs using Virtual PC. One is the Server, running Windows Server 2003 SP2 and the other two are XP Clients. I have the evaluation version of BigFix installed on the server.

The setup is working fine. The only thing is, I want to use the Vista machine as the console. After Installing the console on it, when I tried to connect, it says unable to connect to the database. So I checked the ODBC settings and verified that the machine is able to connect to the server. The testing works fine. I installed the console in both the VMs and it works fine. I even installed it in a seperate machine in the same network and that too works fine. The only problem is with the Vista machine.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks

Ashwin

If your Vista client is 64bit, you may want to check to make certain the ODBC connection entry for the BigFix Console is showing in the 32-bit ODBC manger component.

You need to run C:\windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe in order to properly configure Console access on 64-bit Vista.

I hope this helps.
