Computer Tab reports one PC as <error>

One computer in a large environment of over 7000 systems is showing as “error” for most of the properties. All the entries in the Computer Asset tab on the console report as error.

On double clicking this computer we are able to see all applications installed on that system, see the Identifying Number of the computer (Serial No), find that the system is a Dell Optiplex 745 system, KBxxxxx installed on the system, is a part of xyz Computrer Automatci Group etc etc.

But the system does not report the IP address. Ping, Tracert to the system fail (using the Console right-click option).

On deleting the computer from the database it popsup again as an error entry.

We tried Reset BES Client and Remove BES Client task on this system. The tasks run on the end client but the final status is a Invalid Signature.

How do we -

  1. Find which system this is ? It’s hostname, IP address, location …

  2. How do we troubleshoot and get rid of the error status on the Computers tab?

Hi Ravi,

It sounds like something has gone very wrong with your deployment… I suggest you contact BigFix support to figure out what the cause of the error is…

Hi Ben, This only happens for one client out of 5000+ clients that we have. All we have from the system reporting the error is its Serial Number.

Locating that one single system is like searching a pin in a haystack :(.

Since it is just one box you could put a message in the Client UI (“offers” feature) asking the user to call you on the phone.
