Clients Stop responding after 8.0 upgrade

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

I have recently upgraded to 8.0 and about every 3rd day all my clients stop responding. I have to reboot the root server and send a refresh in order to get the clients responding. Has anyone seen this?

All relays and clients are upgraded and work fine after the reboot, but this has happened about 5 times since upgrade.

Please contact support. More information will be needed to help find the issue

Just letting everyone know support is still working on the issue above. But, I have also seen wizards disappear, pre cache limited to only 21 fixlets, and non- master operators have full master operator privilages temporarily. I don’t think this upgrade was the best idea.

We are experiencing the same issue. Would like to share notes CoolITMan

I will see if I can find more info… FWIW, we appear to have hundreds of customers that have upgraded and it seems most of them seem to really like the new version without significant issues…

Loving v.8 ! Upgrade from v7 to 8.0584.0 worked as expected, as did the upgrade to rev 8.0.627.0 …

This happened again and all signs are pointing to SQL. I stopped sql services, stop bes root server service, restarted sql and then root server service and the bufferdir cleared and agents started reporting in. Still trying to figure out exactly what is going on, but did not have to restart the server.

I currently do the same thing as a scheduled task. I worked with BES Support for weeks and they weren’t able to replicate the problem. We have small staff an I haven’t been able to fully troubleshoot it, so I have been limping since I first posted this. I have gone as far as creating a VM of our production environment so I can test all kinds of fixes, and nothing. So far here are my findings:

-It always happens at midnight.

-Only thing running at that time is an SQL Job called BFEnterprise Full Database Reindex, that says I own but I never created this (maybe created by install?). I tried to focus on this but support told me this had nothing to do with it.

-After disabling the SQL Job the problem went form daily to randomly, and now the console runs slower.

-Environmet: we use a proxy server but have no problem with the Gather service, migrated from remote database to a new server that also hosts SQL (memory hogg), 3200+ endpoints, v8.0.584.0
