Client Cache when being patched

I just need some clarification on a question that I was asked recently in a meeting. The subject came up about disk space on our C: drive and how it was typical always on our report of being low. They asked if there was anyway if BigFix could be configure to cleanup the patches that were downloaded once each patch was applied. My answer was that the cache is cleaned out and that there should not be any patches stored on the client. The only time that there will be is if we created a fixlet to copy a windows “FIX” for instance with a action script that copies the file to the client to execute it.

Is my statement true?

:yum:

If an action removes the file downloaded from the __Download directory as part of the action then the item will not enter the client’s cache. So that could help the situation.

Any item remaining in the __Download directory that was downloaded by the client will remain in the client’s cache up to the size of the cache specified in the setting.

Thank you for this clarification Alan
