Google Chrome has been using a "vanity URL" for direct download, i.e., a single static URL that always hosts the latest version. This is not optimal for download methods that rely on hash checks such as package managers and BigFix.
I noticed the Chrome download URL currently downloads the beta build 147.0.7727.56. As a result, BigFix's fixlet ID 14011776 for Chrome version 146.0.7680.178 fails to download.
Also, the WinGet GitHub has located URLs to download specific versions of the exe Chrome installer. Maybe something BigFix can utilize to circumvent this issue?
Kindly take the latest Fixlet content and retry the action. The updated Fixlet includes the correct download URL and hash for the current Chrome version.
Additionally, we try and aim to release updated content for Chrome within 24 hours of a new version being made available
We create patching baselines monthly that include Chrome updates and observed the behavior where the chksum and size changed without notice. Found the below URL that allows you to download without chksums and sizes so it isn’t impacted by the frequent changes to the URL. Hope you find this useful.
