Capture Windows 7 image complete but did not create a file

Hi guys,

I hope you can help me with this one.
I tried capturing clean Windows 7 VM for my image.
I used the built in wizard:

  1. specified the server for the capture
  2. user name&password for this location
  3. Win7 x64
  4. chose he machine from list.
It all looked like its going ok - the task marked as “completed”.
When I tried looking for the captured image there was no sign for it.
I checked permissions for the location I specified - it look ok.
    The VM even finished sysprep.
Is there a step that don’t show up in the wizard?
    please help.

Smadi

Machine has to be in a workgroup to caputre, not Domain. Have you checked this ?

Has it rebooted?

The Task will show up as complete long before it finishes in several of the OSD cases. For instance the capture task does several different things, including executing Sysprep, downloading a copy of WinPE locally, modifying the local copy of MDT’s customsettings.ini, and then rebooting into the WinPE image to execute an imagex capture.

I believe the task is marked Complete at the point where the system is ready to reboot into WinPE (and that’s the last we’ll ever hear from this BES client, when it comes back it’ll be a new client ID.)

Check whether the .WIM file has been downloaded and is ready to be booted.

machine was in workgroup, thx

It was rebooted- but did not capture the machine at all.
I am running it again now.

I have exactly the same problem at now.

should I import any driver to MDT to only capture an image ?

Hello, from the driver library dashboard you should be able to see if you are missing any critical driver. Critical drivers are required for os capture,a nd need to be imported in driver library.
If this is not a driver issue, I suggest you open a PMR

Thanks

You need to map the drive on capture machine otherwise it wont create any file.
