Can we use Application Packages created in Wise Studio with Bigfix?

(imported topic written by nishant_bhatia91)

Hi,

I have a question that can we use packages created in Wise studio with bigfix and use Software deployment wizard of Bigfix to create a package in Bigfix. If the package is created in Bigfix than we can really eleminate writing complex action scripts in Bigfix and all the logics can be written up in Wise package only.

Please suggest if we can use packages created in Wise with Bigfix and if there are any known issues with using Wise.

Thanks

Nishant

I believe the Wise packager could be used for this purpose if it provides command line arguments to control it as an unattended installation.

I don’t know if I’d recommend using it to have “all the logics” wrapped up within the installer package. This eliminates the true power of the BigFix platform, the ability to evalute content and determining relevance before performing any actions.

If the installer package itself determined it’s own needs, that package would have to be launched on every machine that was targeted which could be costly in terms of memory and cpu usage during its evaluation.

However, it is possible to do this yes. Creating a Task, and having very simple relevance logic like “true” would make every system believe that package is relevant and if deployed would launch the installer package.
