Bigfix versus Patchlink comparison?

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

I have searched the web for a current comparison side by side comparison of Bigfix and Patchlink. The few I have found are pretty outdated. Can anyone provide this type of comparison, preferably a matrix comparing features, etc. Thanks for any information.

Hi stephen hawkins,

I think it would be best to contact your BigFix sales representative for specific product comparison information.

Wow, I can’t make heads or tails of that…

One thing I did notice though… BigFix supports both x86 and PowerPC patches for Mac.

sorry, hopefully this is better…try 2

“Queries the Program Files folder” has no X under BigFix. AFAIK, BigFix can use any filesystem object it has access to, how is that portion accurate?

It is out of the box implmentation for inventory of the device. Now having said that, you can customize Bigfix far better than you can in patching without having to buy an add on module.

heh. Forget it, Trust me you want Bigfix don’t bother with the other product’s out there, life is to short to spend time troubleshooting the product or dealing with crappy tech support. Not sure how big your environment I manage 108,000 desktops and I have one server and it scales without problem and the Relevance language is very powerful as well if you choose to use it. The technology is very efficient and it works very well in our environment which is very tough environment and it is real easy to manage, A lot of folks promise things, but fail to deliver in the end. Plus you get great support even after the check has been sent, unlike other vendors who seem to vanish or send you to the trainee on the phone. Go give Paul a call
