BigFix Versions

(imported topic written by SystemAdmin)

We have been running 7.1.1.315 with plans to upgrade to 7.2.4.60.

Now I’m seeing new fixlets for 7.1.8.13.

If 7.2 is out, why is there new content for a 7.1 update?

Does the 7.2 update contain the same fixes in 7.1.8.13?

Hi Mike,

We wanted to release a patch for 7.1 for folks who are not ready to go to 7.2 but are experiencing some of the client UI issues. The scope of changes in the 7.1 patch is smaller than upgrading from 7.1 to 7.2.

I’ll add the announcement that went out to the BES Admin list in the post below.

BigFix has modified content in the BES Support site. Upgrade content for the BES 7.1 and 7.2 branches has been updated for the 7.1.8 and 7.2.4 patch releases, respectively.

BigFix 7.2.4 is a patch update to the previous 7.2 release. The most important changes are BigFix Agent changes to address a number of issues in the BESClientUI. All BigFix 7.2.4 components are forward and backwards compatible with all other 7.2.x components and can be upgraded in any order. All customers are recommended to upgrade to 7.2.4 for the latest fixes, updates, and enhancements. 7.1.8 has similar changes for the 7.1 branch.

Where can I download the stand-alone versions of the new 7.2.4.60 client and console ? I can’t seem to find them on the website http://support.bigfix.com/bes/install/downloadbes.html

I’ve already pushed out tasks to upgrade the server, consoles and clients via the console but I like to have the stand-alone installers too.

Client, console, and server installers are custom to each deployment. You need to download the “installer installer” and use it to upgrade the customized installers that were created when you first installed. Just download the 145 MB file listed on that page, or use the direct link below, and run it on your server. It will detect the presence of the old installers and prompt you to upgrade your BESInstallers folder.
