We have a strange issue sometimes where the BigFix client (11.0.0.28844) runs for a while and flat out dissapears from the list of services on a 2003 server… It’s not stopped, it’s flat out gone, after working normally for a few weeks, months, or even a year…
Those are virtual servers, if it matters… The only solution is to remove the client and reinstall… then it’s good for a few more weeks… Any ideas ?
I have never heard of that problem… Do you see the files/folders removed or are they still around?
How did you originally deploy the agent? Perhaps there is something going on where the tool you used to deploy the agent is acting funny and partially removing the agent…

I work with deschodt and we figured out what happened with the servers with the disappearing service. Apparently a client update for the servers was pushed too close to their normally scheduled reboot time. The servers were in the process of installing the client update when the servers automatically rebooted. Once we removed and reinstalled the client the BES Client service has remained stable and has not disappeared again.
We hear about strange issues like this periodically and we know they aren’t super widespread (otherwise more people would have reported the issues), but we are always curious what the final outcome was (do we have a rare bug? Is there some sort of configuration issue?) and we appreciate you following up…
