Hi Zak, in my deployment I see the BigFix Labs in the License Overview, but all I see is below. I was added to the “preview” but it never seemed to work for me. I refreshed license as well.

Expiration Date: 12/31/2037

Product License Counts:

Total Max: 4000

wmehardt, I’ll take a look at your license and contact you via email.

(imported comment written by cstoneba)

strange, I don’t see the Labs in the License Overview in either of my deployments.

I ran into an issue where I could only see the BigFix Labs “tab” through the console that’s installed on the root TEM server. I suspect there may be some IE settings that could be causing the issue, but I didn’t spend much time investigating.

Zak

It looks great! Nice implementation.

I am having an issue however. Most of the dashboards work, but I get a script error when entering the ISM library dashboard (input past end of life). Also, I am unable to view the Win7 implentation license or enable that site either.

Thoughts?

All part of the fun and adventure of labs!

I’ll take a look. The License Overview and ISM Library dashboards (along with the Win7 license link) have to contact a url to get some licensing info, along with a list of whats available. I dont think either dashboard does a very good job of letting you know if there is a problem doing that…

Try seeing if you can reach this page from your console machine: http://www.ibm.com/software/brandcatalog/ismlibrary/resources/catalog?&client=TEPM&sortBy=update_ts_desc&rc=TivoliEndpointManager&rc=IBM_Tivoli_AssetType_BigFixLabs

You should get an xml page back. If not, check to see if there is a firewall or something stopping you. I’ll see what i can do to make this all clearer in the dashboards.

Zak, I’ve looked at both our deployments and I see no sign of the Labs overview on the license dashboard. Am i missing something? thanks

(imported comment written by NoahSalzman)

You probably have an older BigFix license (with older packages other than Lifecycle Management and Security & Compliance). Send me your license ID in email and I’ll fix it for you.

Thanks Zak

I am unable to hit that link. States it is unavaliable. Firewall is cleared, as I can hit google.

(imported comment written by SystemAdmin)

hmm, I just checked it out on a few different networks, and it seems to be available. Do you have a setting (perhaps in IE) that blocks this page but not google? or perhaps a proxy or content filter that blocks xml?

(imported comment written by SystemAdmin)

I’ve updated the license overview dashboard. The labs section will show up right away at the bottom, and it will let you know if there was a problem trying to access the ISM site it needs. If you dont see the labs sections, then you probably haven’t updated your license yet (which you can do with the besadmin tool).

I get this error message in the License overview dashboard:

Could not access ISM catalog. Check your proxy and internet settings.

URL: http://www.ibm.com/software/brandcatalog/ismlibrary/resources/catalog?&client=TEPM&sortBy=update_ts_desc&rc=TivoliEndpointManager&rc=IBM_Tivoli_AssetType_BigFixLabs

Error: Input past end of file

I can get to that URL though on the machine that is running my console.

(imported comment written by Bill.Ehardt)

Same cstoneba… I think it has to do with our proxy though and what account the console is trying to connect out to?

Zak, is this the only way we will get access? Can we just get content the same way the others are delivered?

(imported comment written by SystemAdmin)

Unfortunately the problem is more of a legal one. Since this content is not fully productized, well tested, and can potentially cause problems, its a requirement that everyone has access to official licensing term before they add the site, and those terms come from this ISM site (which is an official IBM sanctified home of this type of unproductized content). Basically there cant be a way for someone to claim they added labs without ever being able to see this special “as-is” license.

The problem comes in access that site, so I’ll try to push for a way to ease that requirement or work around it.

In the mean time, when you check that URL make sure you do it from IE (which is what the console uses). Also, it any console machine will do, so if you have access to a machine that has fewer restrictions placed on it, you may want to try activating labs from there.

I am facing same issue in my both deployment environment:

Could not access ISM catalog. Check your proxy and internet settings

Would like to see any alternate way of getting Bigfix Labs in our deployment.

Bhushan

Ben et al, when I look at the License Overview Dashboard, I don’t see BigFix Labs.

(imported comment written by SystemAdmin)

Some users with “old school” licenses didn’t get the new labs sites included in their bundles along with everyone else. However if you can shoot me an email with your license serial number (which you can get from your license overview dashboard), I can add it for you

Ben et al, …

I hope you didn’t just confuse me with my brother… =)

Is there a workaround for those of us who can’t activate it due to proxy? I can’t from any other machine either. Maybe like a fixlet to activate it?

I’m sure Ben could come up with a way…
