Bigfix appears multiple times when using Provisioning services

(imported topic written by Shlomi91)

Hi,

we recently started using Provisioning services for our Citrix servers.

small rundown on how provisioning works:

there is a single read-only image. the servers use PXE boot and load that read-only image over the network, and boot over the network.

every time we restart a server (with provisioning it is a best practice to reboot the server every day), another copy of the server appears in the console.

we already started checking this issue with Citrix, but i wanted to know if anyone else using provisioning has a similar issue, and how you approached it.

thanks,

Shlomi

Hi Shlomi,

you’ll need to find a way to exclude the BigFix registry key and directory from resetting. Here’s some articles on the basic problem as it occurs in other read-only disk situations:

I am starting to look at getting the BES client out into our Citrix provisioned environment. Has this issue been formerly addressed by IBM in the past couple of years? This thread is a little old and many of the links in the above articles do not exist anymore.
