(imported topic written by BenKus)

Hey folks,

Heads up… Look for BigFix 7.2 soon (probably next week)… It won’t have many major features, but it will have a collection of small fixes and features…

More info soon…

Will it be the usual deployment of 10k or 15K or less clients initially then a month later to everyone else?

Can we upgrade from 7.0.9.164 directly to 7.2 ?

Hey Stacy,

We probably will have a roll-out scheme starting with smaller customers and rolling up, but it probably will be more aggressive than usual because there are only minor changes in this version and there is less concern over major problems or people overwhelming support with questions/issues when the version is released.

And it is released:

Hi Mike,

The upgrade fixlets are currently available, so you should find them in your Console. Of course, the relay upgrade will not become relevant until the server is upgraded. The server upgrade is initially limited to seat counts of 10,000 or less.

Steve

FYI… Informal update… As far as we can tell, about 80 customer deployments have upgraded so far with little to no issues reported (some of them are lab deployments and we have no idea how many agents have been upgraded)… We are still working with Mike on his issue here: http://forum.bigfix.com/viewtopic.php?id=2833 but as far as I know, that is the only open issue.

There were only 2 reported incidents of the BES Client Logging error - during upgrade. It did not effect the actual upgrade at all. Paul was awesome as always in assisting - however, since it only appeared twice and we couldn’t recreate, it is assumed to be isolated incidents based on system state at time of update.

7.2 is now on 3900+ workstations and servers (all Windows Systems) - with no issues to date!

Cheers,

Mike
