BigFix 6.0 approaching EOL

(imported topic written by BenKus)

Hi folks,

You can expect a more formal announcement soon, but I wanted to send out another note to everyone that BigFix 6.0 will be End-of-Lifed when 8.0 is released (expected in a few months). The first version of BigFix 6.0 was originally released in April 2006 so it has been out for quite a while (and it has survived much longer than our standard 2-year End-of-Life release schedule).

EOLing BigFix 6.0 is particularly important to us because we have many different improvements that we would like to put in our Fixlet sites that are not compatible with BigFix 6.0 and so after 8.0 is released, we will be making changes to our Fixlet sites that will benefit 7.0+ customers (better performance, better efficiency, additional functionality) and 6.0 customers will begin to lose functionality. Also note that BigFix 6.0 is not compatible with some of the newest changes that we are introducing today (including some of the recently published dashboard/wizard updates).

As far as we know, the vast majority of customers have already upgraded from 6.0, but we wanted to make sure we keep everyone up-to-date on the upcoming changes…

Thanks,

Ben
