Can any one tell me where all the different type of installation files are downloaded to on the client? Does each type of fixlet have a seperate staging directory on the client?

Agents download files are cached at:

C:\Program Files\BigFix Enterprise\BES Client__BESData__Global__Cache

So every different type fixlet (MS patches, adobe patches) wil be downloaded to this folder initially on the clients for installation?

Agents will put files (any files: patches, updates, software packages) that it downloads in this cache. The files will only be downloaded to the agents if you apply a Fixlet action…

OK then where are the installation files downloaded on the client after a Fixlet action is deployed to the clients?

I believe it works like this:

  • While being downloaded, files are at the __BESData__Global__Download<site> folder
  • When the action starts the files are moved to the __BESData<site>__Download folder
  • Files are stored in the __BESData__Global__Cache folder until they are kicked out because of cache size limitations.
