Hi everyone in the BigFix User Group!
I’m not sure if I’m in the right place for this…but the other avenues that I’ve tried to resolve my problem haven’t turned anything up.
I didn’t even know what BigFix was until today (I’m still kind of fuzzy on it), but it seems to be acting up on my computer (Dell Inspiron)… Starting this evening, my Norton AntiVirus shows record of BESCLIENTLOGGINGSERVICE.EXE trying to gain ‘unauthorized access’ about 10-15 times every minute. Norton tech support told me that Norton was doing its job by blocking the program, so I shouldn’t worry about it, but I still find it troublesome that some unknown program is constantly attempting to do something it shouldn’t be on my computer.
After doing some research, it looks like BES client software has been on my computer for a long time, although I don’t know how I got it. When I look at the programs on my computer, BigFix Enterprise Client was installed on 9/15/2009 and BES Logging Service was installed on 9/10/2010.
Even though I don’t understand what it is, it shouldn’t be harmful, right? So is BESCLIENTLOGGINGSERVICE.EXE part of this package? Should I delete the program?
Here’s what Norton tells me:
Actor:
C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\BIGFIX ENTERPRISE\BES CLIENT\BESCLIENTLOGGINGSERVICE\BESCLIENTLOGGINGSERVICE.EXE
Actor PID: 1988
Target:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Norton AntiVirus\Engine\18.1.0.37\ccSvcHst.exe
Target PID: 2772
Action: Access Process Data
Reaction: Unauthorized access blocked
I would really appreciate it if somebody could shed some light on my situation!!
Thanks so much,
layman
