BESClient in CentOS can't find Evans and Davis server

(imported topic written by tomelf91)

Hi,

I’ve download BESClient for CentOS from the following page and install it by the steps:

http://support.bigfix.com/install/besclients-nonwindows.html

Operating system

  • Server: I’ve tried Bigfix Evans and Davis server. My Bigfix servers are installed on Windows 2003.
  • Client: CentOS 5 x64.
  1. Download and install the rpm of CentOS 5 Agent (x86_64) (8.0.627). => Success

  2. Copy the masthead generated by my Bigfix server to the client foler “/etc/opt/BESClient”, rename the masthead file name to “actionsite.afxm”.

  3. Run “/etc/init.d/besclient reload”. => Success

  4. Run “/etc/init.d/besclient status”. => The service is running.

However, the CentOS client won’t be added in my Bigfix servers.

I’ve also tried to turn off the firewall in the CentOS client by running the command:

“/etc/init.d/iptables stop”

And the client and server could ping each other. But the Bigfix server still can’t see the CentOS client.

Would someone help me with this question? Thanks a lot! Please let me know if I could collect more information for this question!

What do you see in the client logs? Also, can you connect to the server from the client on 52311 (“telnet bigfixserver 52311”)?

Sorry I found that the client can’t find the hostname of Bigfix server. The problem has been solved.
