Hi,

I have been observing in BES console. There are few systems for which BES distance relay is high, 4-5 is the number. The Client is set to automatic select the relay. Still the distance is high. However, I have to manually select the relay for client to reduce the BES distance relay. I saw a fixlet for Bigfix to run the Auto select on all clients, but I doubt if that can help.

Let me know if there any interesting reasons.

Do you think these are mobile clients that change locations often? Also, is there anything that might be blocking ICMP between the clients and the relays?

Hi Ben,

There are mobile clients, but let us discount 30-40% but there are still 60-70% desktop facing the same problem. I dont think ICMP is blocked because I can ping systems.

I have a BES relay server, but no client report to that BES relay server. I rebooted the system, restarted the service, checked Firewall. The BES relay server is Windows 2003.

Thanks Ben, it was a DNS issue.
