BES affiliation

(imported topic written by jools8691)

Hi,

We have a server in the DMZ which needs to service Corporate Laptops across ADSL connections.

If we set a Manual Relay selection to the DMZ relay, and a failover which will never work as the machine cannot see our internal DNS servers unless the connect back inside our company, then this works fine.

However if we set up RELAY Affliation groups, then these dont seem to work. We have a server in the DMZ which has "DMZ;

" set for the “_BESRelay_Register_Affiliation_AdvertisementList” setting. The root server has been assigned "

" so it is the affiliation failover.

And the laptops have “DMZ;*” set for their “_BESClient_Register_Affiliation_SeekList” setting.

However in practice, they dont try and connect to the DMZ relay, they only try to connect to out ROOT server.

Please note, Automatic relay selection is turned on for these LAPTOP clients.

Hi jools,

Does the DMZ relay allow ICMP responses?

Also, you might try seeing if it works for you in a non-DMZ scenario to ensure it is working as we expect it to. If it works as you want outside the DMZ, then that isolates the problem to something specific in that environment versus a problem with the relay affiliation setup.
