It is not critical to upgrade, but there are enough changes and small fixes that most people should probably will want to upgrade.

Are there any special instructions for upgrading when using a remote DB server? - I’ve tried using the upgrade fixlet/running the upgrade manually and I just get failed as a fixlet result and the process just stops when running manually.
I’m going to try the BES Generator download to see if that works - detailed instructions for an upgrade installation with a remote DB would be nice to see!

After my server upgrade failed from fixlet, I remote controlled into the server last night and just ran the server install from the BESinstall directory and it worked fine.
I forget what it asked me when I installed it, but there was a selection which I’m guessing made it fail in automated mode.
We too have a remote DB.
