Baseline missing multiple relevant computers

(imported topic written by olsonc5891)

I create multiple baselines every month - one for each OS. I use multiple computers in a group to see what should be included. For example, I checked 10 of 30 computers in the WIN2008 group for Relevant fixlets and tasks and use those results to create my baseline.

When I go to the baseline I just created, none of the computers I used to generate the baseline are listed as applicable computers. I double-checked the relay and it is working. How can they not be relevant when I used them to create the Baseline? I deleted the baseline and tried again with the same results. How come they are not showing up as applicable when indeed they meet the relevance for patching? I waited an hour and tried refreshing the group as well without luck.

I reopened the baseline to edit, clicked on the tabs but made NO changes. I was still prompted to verify. Once I did that, the computers showed up as relevant. I am not sure what is going on.

Hard to give you an answer right off the bat, but a couple questions.

  1. How many baselines are these 30 computers relevant/subscribed to? What I am trying to find out is how many different baselines the servers may be checking against.

  2. How many fixlets are in the baselines?

  3. Have you checked the bes client log file on one of the systems that is not reporting vs the ones that are? You may have to look at enabling the debug logging to get more information. Also use the fixlet “361 TROUBLESHOOTING: Enable BES Client Usage Profiler” to see where the systems may be spending their time.

  4. Is UDP blocked between the relay and the system.

  5. Is it the same 10 systems that always report and the same 20 that do not?

Sorry for all the questions, but they will help understand the problem a bit more.

Martin.
