Any issues with deploying MSP files via Software Distribution Wizard?

(imported topic written by rharmer91)

Anything I should know about when deploying MSP files via Software Distribution Wizard?

Tried once today and it failed:

The action has been run 1 time, and will not be run again.

The action failed.

Completed: download http://srvrbigfix1.fairview.org:52311/Uploads/57a0f741e38e19f038fe199024f14076d14add41/bigFE.tmp

Completed: continue if { (size of it = 509485 and sha1 of it = “57a0f741e38e19f038fe199024f14076d14add41”) of file “bigFE.tmp” of folder “__Download”}

Completed: extract bigFE.tmp

Failed: wait __Download\PSE400R02W2K3002.msp

Thanks,

Rich

Rich,

Wait command (as well as run command) is used to run an executable. Since PSE400R02W2K3002.msp is not an executable, your command fails. Try this as your last line:

wait msiexec /update __Download\PSE400R02W2K3002.msp

You can find a guide with all the information about BigFix Windows action commands at http://support.bigfix.com/fixlet/documents/WinActions-2006-08-17.pdf

Cool, thanks… I wasn’t 100 percent sure it would execute like that via the tool - but I couldn’t find MSP in your documentation either…
