Announcing BigFix Extended Patch for Windows 7 and Server 2008

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 reach end of life on January 14th, 2020. They will no longer receive standard patch support from Microsoft.

The good news is that organizations can purchase an Extended Security Update (ESU) from Microsoft, to keep their endpoint environments secure. BigFix is proud to announce support of these ESU’s by announcing two new products:

  • BigFix Extended Patch for Windows 7
  • BigFix Extended Patch for Windows Server 2008

Organizations with either BigFix Patch, BigFix Compliance, or BigFix Lifecycle can purchase these new products to seamlessly continue the flow of BigFix’s powerful curated Fixlet content to quickly ensure the continued security of Windows 7 and Server 2008 OS’s.

Will you develop a fixlet for deploying the pre-requisite KB’s and updating the MAK key to allow the endpoint to qualify and receive extended support patches?

I can’t currently read your blog post because the certificate has expired and our proxy (quite correctly) blocks anything with a certificate that has expired (or belongs to another host).

@thomasdietrich The Fixlets for the pre-requisite KBs are already available in our Enterprise Security/Patches for Windows site. You can locate them by searching for the KB numbers in your console.

Windows 7 KB4474419, KB4490628, KB4516655 and KB4519976.
Windows 2008 KB4493730, KB4474419, KB4517134, KB4520002.

We will be publishing a Fixlet to update the Multiple Activation Key (MAK) as part of the Extended Patch sites which Dan mentions above.
