I was just added in as a Master Operator, but am unable to deploy any fixlets without the original administrator using his password. There might be an incredibly easy solution to all of this that I am simply overlooking, but is there some way for me to be able to deploy fixlets without having to share passwords?

It sounds as if your account was created with the same password as the the one for the original admin account.
Go ahead and login and change your login password from the console: File- Change Database Password
then change your password on your keys from: Tools - Manage signing Keys - change password (note the password follows the keys)

That sounds like it’s exactly what I need, but both the admin and I have gone in and found that Change Database Password is gray and unselectable and we’re not sure why that is. Any ideas?

It is probably gray because you are logging in with your NT Authentication from the BigFix Server… you should log in with the “EnterpriseServer” DSN that doesn’t use NT Authentication by default and you can change the password…
You also can change your signing key password from Tools>Manage Signing Keys.
