Additional Feature in Big FIx

(imported topic written by RamasamyPonnarasu)

Hi,

Is there any way to check whether the a particular PC or few no PC is registered in the Big Fix Server,

I know there are few ways,

  1. Using Find option in the Console

  2. Export to excel sheet and compare with PC list,

Other then this any other option available,

Why i am asking means every day i need to compare the asset list and send report to customer( we have around 7400 clients), Every time export report and compare very difficult for us.

Example:

SMS server have feature by installing additional tools we can copy and paste the host name that we need to check into the console from there we can compare easily like that any option have in bigfix.

Thanks & Regards

Arasu

Hi Arasu,

Will the BigFix Excel Connector solve your problems?

If not, let me know and there might be something we can do in web reports…

If there was a property that says when the client was installed in BigFix, I guess that should solve the situation.

I’m thinking of a scenario whereby I have to generate reports on the number of new machines etc within the last 30 days or so. Would be great if this was possible.

Thanks

I have used the EXCEL connector and found (VDI environment) that it sometimes does not come up in Excel after the install. I even had it working, then stopped working (showing up) when you open Excel. Here is what I did to fix this:

Looked at the Registry key (as explained) for the entry for my user ID

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins"

Looking for SUB KEY

BigFixExcelConnector.AddinModule

This was NOT found. However I could find it under the HIVE for the .default user. So I exported that out and edited the REG file (the one I exported) to this:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

http://HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\AddIns\BigFixExcelConnector.AddinModule

“FriendlyName”=“BigFixExcelConnector”

“Description”=""

“CommndLineSafe”=dword:00000000

“ADXStartMode”=“FIRSTSTART”

“LoadBeHavior”=dword:00000003

Notice that ALL I really CHANGED in the export HIVE key was the HKEY location to point to CURRENT USER and not .default. When I right click (or double click) and import the registry file, it updates the registry and the next time I opened Excel, the BigFixConnector was working.

Thanks for the note and feedback.

I don’t know what might cause this in the VDI environment and this gives me something to track the issue.
