Action Lock Exemptions

(imported topic written by go4u)

Edit Masthead using the Administration Tool

“Action Lock Exemptions: In rare cases, you may need to exempt a specific URL from any locking actions. Check this box and enter the exempt URL.”----from BESAdminGuide-6.0.pdf

1、what does the “URL” mean? a common URL such as "http://www.bigfix.com"or a special URL such as a site’s URL like “http://sync.bigfix.com/cgi-bin/bfgather/bessupport” ?

2、what does the "locking actions"mean? A locked computer?

3、an example?

Thanks!

In BES there is the idea of ‘locking’ a computer so that it won’t run actions. In reality you still need it to run some actions, like the unlock action and management right actions. By default the BES Support site is exempted from action locks meaning that actions deployed from Fixlets in the BES Support site will run on locked computers. Any client setting actions will run as well.

This feature lets you add additional Fixlet sites to be exempted, these could be external Fixlet Sites, Operator Sites or Custom Fixlet Sites.

  1. A url is a reference to a particular Fixlet site. These are deployment specific and internal to BES.

  2. No, it means that actions from that site will run on locked computers.

  3. From the BES Console go to tools->Manage Sites, select a site and click the ‘properties’ button. Take a look at the ‘gather url’. You can get a full list of site urls for your deployment on the gather mirror status page of the BES Server: http://127.0.0.1:52311/cgi-bin/bfenterprise/besgathermirrornew.exe
