Re: Web Reports Feature Requests

Hey Boyd,

For #2, can you assign rights based on web reports filters instead of console operators to make your life easier?

Re: Web Reports Feature Requests

Ben,

When I try to create a filter and add sites by using include->site->name the filter doesn't seem to work right. Instead of filtering computers subscribed to that site, all of the computers are still visible. Also, none of the actions issues in the site are visible. Under actions, the count is 0. Am I missing something?

Thanks

Matt

Re: Web Reports Feature Requests

* Integrated AD authentication (actually I wish all BigFix had this)
* The ability to share filters or at least publish filters to a group of users so that I don't have to teach them how to use them (yes, I know they are easy)
* Some type of folder structure for reports so that the one report page doesn't have 50 reports on it.  Also, I'd like security so that I specify which users can see which reports.

2. We potentially have a lot of users across a lot of sites that need access to web reports, but should not be able to see computers or actions outside of their site. Currently, the best solution we have found for this is to create a console operator account with read rights to their site, and then use the "restrict normal user by console operator" feature to restrict them to their site and prevent them from viewing the clients of other sites. As you may imagine, this can be an account management nightmare for BES Sys Admins with hundreds of users! I feel like managing the console operator accounts/rights alone can be a hefty task at times in an environment a lot of sites...

Boyd-
My environment has a very similar situation. Our solution was to create a "profile" account on the console for each group that only needed to see web reports, and assign the web user to the "profile" console operator.  It's true that by doing it this way we're creating several dozen console accounts that will never be used, but we felt it was a better alternative than 1) assigning them to other users who might someday be deleted, or 2) issue each web user a console account that would never be used.

To the BES team-
One thing that would make auditing user access MUCH easier would be if there was an easy way to report what computer groups each console user was assigned to, AND what each web user's rights are restricted by.

Re: Web Reports Feature Requests

Hey kespoor,

Thanks for your tip. We have considered doing this, but cringe at the idea because we have a lot of sites.

I did manage to get filters working, at least somewhat. We think they could be used with web reports accounts that are only needed for SOAP API calls. However, I discovered that deleting the filter removes all restrictions on users that had that filter applied. Is there any way to disable this functionality so that, if a filter is deleted, web reports users that were using it can see no assets at all?

Re: Web Reports Feature Requests

Hi Mike,

I would like to see the "IP Address" property shown in reports where the "Computer Name" property is shown.
This comes because of the constant demand from every customer here in India.

Only a handful of customers here have standardizstion on Hostnames, most others use the IP Address as the identifier.

I would be happy to see a small check box which allows me to choose whether I want to see the IP Address in the report or not.

Thanks,
