<title>Heartbeat Setting in BES Technical Discussions : BES Performance Tuning</title>

<description>Topic: Heartbeat Setting

Message: I think your agents are busy for some reason and so they skip reports to avoid using too much CPU... Try changing your heartbeat to 20 minutes (or longer) and your &#34;mark online after&#34; to 60 min (or longer) and see if that helps...You might want to talk to support or get an optimization service from our professional services team:http://support.bigfix.com/services/Ben

<description>Topic: Console Preferences

Message: Hello,We just recently setup the BES Consoles to be run from citrix instances where users can login to avoid wan delays in remote offices. The setup works quite nicely, however, it keeps separate console caches on each of the citrix instances, so any settings/looks/views that a user sets for themself are different on the different instances, which is somewhat annoying. We did some research on the possibility of setting up roaming profiles over terminal service on AD side but that would require a lot of storage space to be dedicated to users as all local cache will be stored there, as well as introduce additional latency during the login process due to the replication to external storage location. Is there any way around this problem? Is there any way to sync up the user's preferences/views/looks by themselves without having to sync up the entire BigFix cache? Is there a universal place (file, registry, etc) where those preferences are stored on the local machine? Thanks.

<description>Topic: Only want BES service to gather data once a day

Message: I am using Bigfix on a large server farm for just patch management and I only need to know a servers patch state once a day. I have set the heartbeat down to once a day, but I see the BES service taking system resource (I/O, CPU, Memory) all day long. When I go into Manage Properties from the Tools Menu almost all of the properties are greyed out and will not allow me to change the evaluate time to 1 day. Is there something else I need to do so the BES agent only gathers data once a day. This would allow me to really minimize the system impact of BigFix accross the server farm.

<description>Topic: a readymade tool to simulate huge number of virtual BES clients

Message: Hi Durgarao,We have tools like this that we use for our internal testing, but they aren't really designed for external customers (they don't have good documentation and there are lots of gotchas).Perhaps you can contact your account manager to ask if someone can assist you directly or get you the answers you need in some other form.Ben

<title>DownloadCacher or similar for a Custom Site? in BES Technical Discussions : BES Performance Tuning</title>

<description>Topic: DownloadCacher or similar for a Custom Site?

Message: I gave that a try and the -z option does a scan and then starts downloading anything and everything.&#160; I would like to limit it to a specific custom site like you can when using the -m masthead option.&#160; &#160;The older version would list the sites and ask which one you would want to cache, but it never listed custom sites. My plan was to have this scheduled such that my content would be pre-cached remote sites at specific times to optimize and ensure that it is local during demand time.-Gary
