Topic: Action Script for low bandwidth connections

Message: Thanks for the reply!!!We probably are not setting the relays to allow the file size to get through. Right now, the process is in Proof of Concept, so we aren't implementing yet. I know where to go if more help is needed!!!!

Topic: Action Script for low bandwidth connections

Message: Mike,Are you setting the _BESClient_ArchiveManager_MaxArchiveSize on the client computer? On the client's relay and/or root server, the _BESRelay_UploadManager_BufferDirectoryMaxSize and _BESRelay_UploadManager_CompressedFileMaxSize need to be set appropriately too or the file won't be accepted. If there are multiple relays between the client and root server, all of them would need to have these settings set relative to the file sizes you plan to upload. When it is all set correctly, upload manager does work. I run this for a well-known retailer. Ten of thousands of files and GBs of data are uploaded daily. At that point, it becomes critical to correctly identify the IOP requirements of the disk array on your relays and root server. Upload manager can overwhelm the I/O to the disk if you're not careful. Multiple and tiered relays help in this situation.

Topic: Action Script for low bandwidth connections

Message: The files that are being uploaded need to go to another server for processing (basically, its retail outlets, and the files being uploaded are end of day transactions)Also, I tried to use the Upload task for dump logs and modify that to work for sending upsteam. I included the command to allow the file to be 10MB to be transferred. It didn't seem to work, as we attempted a 3mb file to go to the server, and the log file for the upload manager said max size exceeded. I can provide the code I used in the morning once I'm back in the office.

Topic: Action Script for low bandwidth connections

Message: Hello,I'm trying to transfer a file over a dial up connection (don't ask why, its complicated)We want to be able to copy a 1-2MB file off the client to a server over the dial up connection. We want to use the bigfix "its ok if the connection is lost, we'll just continue when the connection restores.Does anyone have a suggestion how to do it? We have tried the ArchiveManager and with it throwing stuff into all those directory structure, it will not work for our purposes.I can provide more details on request...Mike

Topic: What would be the best way to seperate servers by who is responsible

Message: Hey Chris,I would normally use registry keys for this type of thing... but if you want to use files, you could make 2 properties:First property: Name: "Internal Server Type" (or whatever)Relevance: (if (exists file (it)) then line 1 of file (it) else "unknown") of "C:\ICS.txt"Second property: Name: "Restart Rules" (or whatever)Relevance: (if (exists file (it)) then line 2 of file (it) else "unknown") of "C:\ICS.txt"Hopefully that works for you,Ben

Topic: Action script

Message: Hey Jim,Check out the action guide and examples at: http://support.bigfix.com/fixlet/The "Failed" status means something special when running Fixlets (because fixed/failed status is determined by the relevance of the Fixlet)... See: http://support.bigfix.com/cgi-bin/kbdirect.pl?id=68 (if you are running Tasks or custom actions, completed/failed status is determined if all lines executed). Here are some examples to run some scripts:waithidden cmd.exe /C C:\test.batwaithidden cscript.exe C:\test.vbswaithidden msiexec.exe C:\test.msi /quietNote: actions run with a current working directory of the directory of the Fixlet site (not the folder the file was downloaded in)... So if your batch script is expecting files from the extracted package, then add "cd __Download" to the front of your batch script before you run it...)Ben

Open the "Session Relevance Editor" and paste in:(it, multiplicity of it - 1) of unique values of (it as lowercase) of (if (it contains ":") then preceding text of first ":" of it else it) of (relay hostnames of bes computers whose (relay server flag of it OR root server flag of it); relay servers of bes computers)I think that will work...Ben
